Roger was a class clown in Jr. High.  He was one of the three dozen of us who did not go to Kiser but attended that nasty old Lindley Jr. High on Spring Garden Street.

One funny memory to share:  When we held election speeches for the 9th grade class president, Roger got up on stage in the gym and gave a rousing speech promising all kinds of pie-in-the-sky perks.  He said, "If you elect me, you will all get a 10 am milk break!"   The crowd went wild!   He was a rock star!  I whispered to the vice-principal, "Can he do that?!"  And he replied, "Aw, heck no, but it'll get him elected".   And it did.

Yes, I certainly remember Roger Hammer.  Not really from Lindley Jr High, where I also attended but from ROTC at Grimsley High.

I didn't know Roger was in ROTC!  I remember Randy Barlow was, not Roger.

Hey, I just found Paula Rigolosi, and she was surprised to hear about Roger, and wants details.  Does anyone know what happened to Roger?

Roger died on November 30, 1995.  He went in to the hospital here in Greensboro complaining of severe chest/arm pain.  He begged to be admitted.  They took an EKG and told him it was exactly like the one they had from a previous visit to the ER.  They would not admit him.  He passed that night at his parent's house.

In the autopsy, they found that Roger had died of a heart attack and were surprised to find that he HAD TWO heart attacks.  He showed signs of a second--the time that he had the OTHER EKG.  No charges were filed.

Yes, I'm mad still that we lost Roger. He was my best friend.
