Friends:  I see Kathy's older sister Carolyn (Class of 78) from time to time.  I sent her a note recently and I am attaching her response below so you all will be informed as to what happened.  -Dana

Hi Carolyn. Hope you are doing well.

When I signed up on the Grimsley Class of 1980 website recently, I looked at the Memorial page and was shocked and stunned to see Kathy's name on the list. Very sad. My condolences to you, Mike and your whole family.
Do you mind telling me what happened and when? Thanks, Dana

Dana,
Aren't you a dear, sweet friend to write after learning of Kathy's death. She did pass away 5 years ago on Sept. 12 due to a heart attack (brought on by undiagnosed diabetes). It was a terrible shock to us all! I cannot say that one ever recovers from a shock like this, but we have all learned how to cope. She left behind a loving husband and 3 children (ages at the time were 18, 15 and 13). She had just moved her oldest daughter into the dorms at Meredith College some few weeks before her death--so I am grateful that they had that special time together.

I will certainly pass on your condolences to the family. Thank you so much for your sweet compassion on our behalf! That's why we love friends like you!

Hope to see you at some play or other function! Take care and send my best to your family!
Carolyn

I have the fondest memories of Kathy. She was always a ray of sunshine. She called me Cynthia Louise (not my middle name) and I called her Katherine Michiko. What a loss. I miss you Kathy!

The whole explanation is (still) stunning.  Bless her!

I can still see that smile and hear that laugh!  RIP, Kathy.
